Ares

Hi everyone!

This is my first worklog on this forum and also my entry to the Enermax CaseCon Contest 2013.

So, lets start with description of the concept.

Ares is midtower ATX case in armor design. PSU is in case itdelf, but it is not covered and it is visible from outside (as stated in contest rules).

Front is covered with metal mesh that allows lot of air to come to watercooling raditor fitted in the front.

As you can see-whole case rests on two big case feet that are fitted next to the bottom of the case.

Top and rear of the Ares have lot of air vents for better air circulation and that also removes the need for lot of fans inside of case.

MBO is rotated in 90 deegre angle and that makes whole case smaller that usual cases and improves air circulation since GPU will be aircooled.

I still have some minor changes to be done on the case before I cat the parts on CNC,but exterior will be identical to that in concept.

Could you look through the metal mesh or looks it only in SketchUp ike this?

Yes, it will be possible to see through mesh one it is installed on the case.

But I am still thinking about placing some dust filter behing the mesh.

Hey,

I like the ideas you have very much and I think this will get quite a nice case if your plans work out well.
But I have a question too:
You said you want to cat the parts in the CNC - what materials do you want to use for that?
I estimate Aluminium or do you want to go fancy with this?

Also, if you choose to put a fine dust filerting mesh behind the mesh in the front I would recommend doing the following:
Build the mounting system for that inner mesh just along the sides and in the middle of the panel, without crossbars or something like that going across the mesh.
Then place LEDs between the radiator and the fans on it that are lighting towards the mesh.

That would give a nice effect, don't you think? :)

Really cool concept! I like the look, and especially the top, but I would really apreciate a dark dust filter behind the front, the hardware would bring to much color out of the case, dextroying the armor style. But this is one of my favorite cases so far!

Very nice concept!
I like the whole look of it ^^
But, do you realy want to cool 3 Gpu's and the Processor with this little Radiator, or is that Hardware only in the CAD concept?

Material that I am going to use is 8 mm thick plywood. Reason for using plywood is that I want for case to have weight under 10 kg or even less. :)

I have some plans for front of the case. I will make changes in model so you will see what I prepared. ;)

Thank you. :) Don't worry, fans will be in front so it won't impact style of the case. ;)

Thanks! Hardware is just an example-only CPU will be watercooled. :)

I like the shape of your design, it looks quiet interessting. I looking forward to the first pictures of the manufacturing.

I made changes on case-radiator mount is added and I made some more space in case by moving the radiator closer to front.

I am still wainting for material to come-my last project completely emptied whole warehouse. :D
